VRABIČ Tomaž
VRABIČ Tomaž (born 1954), a Slovene writer of children's prose and poetry and photographer, graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 1979 and completed his master's degree in 2002. He has held several photography exhibitions in Ljubljana, Nova Gorica and Radovljica. He is active in the field of protection of natural and cultural heritage.
In 1996, he published the poetry collection Abeceda za vseveda [Alphabet for Polymath] with the Magnolia publishing house, followed by the Rompompom poetry collection (2003) with the Karantanija publishing house. Many of his songs have been set to music by contemporary Slovenian composers: Andrej Mison, Peter Kopač, Primož Grašič, D. Kokalj, Vitja Avsec, A. J. Kropivšek, Jakob Jež, Maks Strmčnik and Tine Bec. The publishing house Karantanija published a picture book Žlobudrave bolhe [Gossiping Fleas] in 2003, in 2005 Pravljice [The Fairy Tales] and Artis v svinjaku [Artis in a Piggery], and in 2006 Kolodvor letnih časov [The Railroad Station of the Seasons]. In 2005 he published the Pozdravi iz divjine [Greetings from the Wild] with the Mladika publishing house. He published the work Čarovnica Kira [Kira, the Witch] in 1996 with Učila publishing house, in 1998 Poredni volk [The Naughty Wolf] and in 1999 Nasukani strah [A Retwisted Ghost]. The most beautiful fairy tales were released on a CD in 2004 by Panika Records. Vrabič iluustrated by himself the following books: Čarovnica Kira [Kira, the Witch], Pravljice [The Fairy Tales] and Artis v svinjaku [Artis in a Piggery].
With ASTRUM Music Publications Vrabič has published the musical fairy tale Obiski pri Cuckih [A Visit to the Cuckies Family] (2015; libretto: 2004; rev. 2015; music: Vitja Avsec, 2004-8), the musical fairy tale Žlobudrave bolhe [Gossiping Fleas] (libreto: 2014; music: Tine Bec, 2015-6) and the musical play Afriški živalski raj [African Animal Paradise] (libretto: 2018; music: Anton J. Kropivšek, 2012-9).
