BITENC Janez
BITENC Janez, composer, music educator, poet and writer was born on October 25, 1925 in Ljubljana. He graduated with honors from the History Department of the Ljubljana Academy of Music in 1952 and worked as a student at Radio Ljubljana, where he founded the Radio Children's and Youth Choir and was the editor of youth music programs at Radio Ljubljana. After a while he became the headmaster of the Franc Šturm School of Music, and from 1978 to 1982 he taught music teaching at the Department of Musicology.
In a special way, he was able to bring music and its contents closer to young people in a way that they understood and appreciated. Over the course of his long career, he has written and produced more than 400 songs and fairy tales for children, 15 song books and several books of fairy tales. His most famous works are: Kuža Pazi, Ciciban poje, Naša četica, Kam, barčica, kam, Velikan Gorjan and Kurirčki. For his work and creative achievements, Janez Bitenc has received numerous awards, commendations and recognitions. He died at the age of 80 in Ljubljana.
