RUSTJA Jernej

RUSTJA Jernej (born 1987) enrolled at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana after successfully completing his first years of physics studies at the University of Ljubljana. He completed his studies of the first level of composition in the class of the Distinguished Professor Pavel Mihelčič. Rustja also studied with Marko Mihevec, Dušan Bavdek and Uroš Rojko. As a composer and singer, he collaborates with a number of choral ensembles and with choirmasters Matjaž Šček, Stojan Kuret, Urša Lah, Petra Grassi, Sebastjan Vrhovnik, Mateja Černic, Andrej Filipič and others at concerts, domestic and international competitions and festivals. In the field of choral conducting, he studied informally with Stojan Kuret and Petra Grassi. For many years he has been leading the Franc Zgonik Male Choir and the Castrum Male Octet. His choral compositions are regularly performed by choirs at concerts and competitions in Slovenia and abroad, he also writes for piano, chamber ensembles, orchestra and works  with modern popular and electronic music, with which he has performed at festivals in Slovenia and his music was presented on radio.
