Bishop msgr. Dr.
Jurij Bizjak, was born on 22nd February, 1947, at Col (Vipavska, Slovenia) as the oldest son in a family of four. He completed five elementary school classes at Col and the last three at nearby town of Ajdovščina. He attended grammar school (1961-1965) at the seminary in Vipava, and theology (1965-1971) at the Faculty of Theology in Ljubljana, where he graduated in 1972. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1971 in Log near Vipava.
On 26 May 2012 Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop Bizjak as the 58th resident Bishop of Koper.
