NOVAK Diana

NOVAK Diana (born 1982) began her musical education at the Music School in Kranj and continued her research into musical composition at the Secondary Music and Ballet School in Ljubljana. At the Academy of Music, University of Ljubljana, she completed her composition studies in the class of Prof. Marko Mihevac and defended her master's degree with an analysis of Marjan Kozina's Musical Composition in Ballet Suite / Glasbeni stavek Marjana Kozine v Baletni suiti  (2009). During her studies, she received the Prešeren Student Award of the Academy of Music for the composition Valle, which was performed by the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor David de Villiers. 


She has been a member of the Slovenian Composers' Association since 2005. Her creative work includes compositions for vocal, chamber instrumental ensembles, string and symphony orchestras, and arrangements for dance and symphony orchestras, which have been performed by orchestras in Slovenia and abroad. 


She has also been active in the field of teaching throughout her career. She teaches music theory at the music school and theoretical subjects at the Organ School in Ljubljana. 


She is an Ursuline nun and the leader of the concert series Sacral Subscription, which operates under the auspices of the Schellenburg Cultural Society. She also works as an organist, writes music for liturgical needs, and researches and writes articles in the field of sacred music.
