IPAVEC Benjamin
IPAVEC Benjamin, Slovenian composer and medical doctor (December 24, 1829, Šentjur (near Celje, Slovenia) - December 20, 1908, Graz, Austria) is one of the important personalities of Slovenian music in the second half of the 19th century. He wrote choral compositions for various occasions. He started composing to Prešeren's texts very early, but he also devoted himself to composing vocal music.
He wrote the first Slovenian operetta Tičnik and the first Slovenian romantic opera Teharski plemiči.
In Graz, where he lived and worked as a medical doctor, he was also known as a composer of dance music. He perfected his composition skills under the famous music teacher W. Mayer.
