GPE 2010: Vokalna akademija Ljubljana won the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing
In Varna, Bulgaria, on May 15, 2010 male choir Vokalna akademija Ljubljana (Vocal Academy Ljubljana) from Slovenia won the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing (GPE). Mr. Stojan Kuret, artistic director of Vokalna akademija is the first choral conductor to win two such awards (first in 2002 with APZ Tone Tomšič, Ljubljana, Slovenia), and Vokalna akademija Ljubljana (VAL) is the first male choir to be selected for the GPE and more: later awarded this prestigious award. Plus: Slovenia is the first country to have three selected choirs for the same GPE event.

| Alongside the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing event also the 32. International May Choir Competition Prof. Georgi Dimitrov, Varna, Bulgaria took place. What is currently known: Coro Città di Roma with conductor Mauro Marchetti won the Varna Grand Prix; they have won also in the Mixed Choirs and Chamber Choirs categories, was awarded the Best Bulgarian Compulsory Song Performance Award and Mauro Marchetti was awarded the title of the Best Choral Conductor of the event. |
